you would not BELIEVE what i got on video! a momma robin (bird, lol) feeding her 3 baby robins a few worms!!! YES, SERIOUSLY! for two years now we've had a robin's nest on our front porch light, so yea, all summer we can't turn our porch light on, lol. but it's really exciting for adeline (okay, & us) to see the birds every day & then see the baby birds eventually.
but tonight i was alone outside trying to figure out where some new plants where going b/c we went to oakland nursery, one of my fav places to go in the summer--scratch that, all year. there i picked out my mother's day gift: a white dwarf rhododendron. then we bought the herbs that we didn't start from seed & some annuals to go in a few pots. anyway, it's just glorious there. i called wes at 4:30 & said 'if you want to come with us to oakland nursery, i'm picking you up in 5 minutes, be ready!' & he was walking out the office door as we pulled up (yea, a bit early, shh, don't tell co-workers, *wink*) & he was nearly as excited as i was. we just don't get down in that area much, plus we spend too much money there whenever we go, so we do have to avoid it most often.
anyway, wes & his mom, who's visiting us today & tomorrow, went to pick his car up from work. so i was alone putting some plants here & there in the front yard & heard this slightest chirpping. so i look a bit closer & even get up on the porch & see the craziest sight i think i've nearly ever seen in nature: the hatchlings being fed. it's amazing! then i hustled inside, snatched the camera & waited another 4 or 5 minutes for some more meal time action. *please excuse the shakiness.* i was zoomed in so much that the slightest movement looks like an earthquake.
in other news: we have asparagus sprouts! so far 5 have sprouted. they are so tiny & cute. they really look as thick as chives, i was expecting a thicker, more hardy sprout. i'm sure they'll bulk up. so we have 10 more that hopefully will sprout. wes saw them first, which bummed me out, but i was plain giddy when he told me that & ran out to see for myself. then i took a lot of pictures that you will have to endure if you continue reading this post....
hhmm, what else? as i mentioned, my mother in law is visiting & the girls were having a ball with her today. you know a grandparent is in the house when adeline is doing her gut laugh for 10 minutes straight. from what i remember, activities included reading several books, putting together all the puzzle pieces (we have about 8 puzzles & each one takes adeline about 5 minutes b/c she's really into hiding each single piece in her shirt & then playing this 'where's the puzzle piece' game that sorta gets annoying after puzzle #1), then there was this lego tower that seemingly beats all other lego towers built so far.... i overheard them building it together, addy & her grandma sue & i am catching glimpses of the 'WHY' behind wes becoming an engineer: his mom! she was talking adeline through where & why to put a piece & somehow it was all very fun & exciting. & amelia showed off her creeping crawling skills for her grandma & has been very happy for her today. wes & i went out to lunch at quaker steak & lube & then i came home & took a nap.
AND WE GOT OUR NEW DRYER TODAY. & it dried a load of jeans in 55 minutes! (4 pairs of wes', 2 of mine, 1 pair of wes' dress pants, 1 pair of addy's jeans, & 1 adeline jean skirt). wow! that would've taken our old dryer at least 90 minutes. plus we don't have the loud squeaking noise anymore. blissful...
then after oakland nursery we came home to freshly raised pizza dough in the bread machine & made our friday night pizza very quickly as it was nearly 6:30! adeline made her first pizza today! i was beaming with pride.
how many exciting things can i handle in one day? apparently many, b/c today has been pretty darn exciting.
i will leave you with a picture of our strawberry patch. yea, we're going to have a quite a feast, eh?

Tell Addy she looks like a natural in the kitchen..... soon she will have to be Popop's sous chef.
Soo, sooo, soo jealous of your asparagus......
the birdy video made me cry. I must be very hormonal or really loved the video...I am thinking I really loved the video. What a great sight to see on mothers day weekend. Isnt it amazing how God just does stuff like that. I will never get mad at the robins in my yard (while they pick at my grass seed) ever again.
