so how cute is this drawing from addy's tuesday at school? i'm pretty sure she didn't draw wes, but i'm pretty darn sure she drew me. another guess--the empty circle to the left of me is amelia? or maybe that was supposed to be her now that we have a scanner i'm sure you'll get to see some more masterpieces from adeline (& eventually amelia).
`
`
here is her school picture! adorable, eh?
& here is a completed look at addy's personally made quilt from grandma sue.
wes & i saw a quilt we really liked from pottery barn...but didn't like the pastel colors. so my mother in law was able to recreate it with more vibrant colors that suit addy & her bedroom (& her parents' liking?) a bit more. adeline *loves* her quilt & especially the new little pillow that grandma sue made to go with it all. in case you're around her & are wondering what 'pee-o' she's desperately looking for...it's her little pillow (you know, pee-o).
as i'm typing this & adeline is doing her homework beside me (nearly cutting off her fingers i will add! gasp, gasp, gasp) i look over & she's checking out all the pictures i have put up & is like A D D Y! A-D-D-Y! she's no longer 'addy' or 'adeline'...she is 'A-D-D-Y' spelled out & punctuated with exclamation points. i was at the pharmacy drive through the other day & the pharmacist asked me to spell my first & last name. i spelled my last name first, then my first name then adeline shouts from the background "A-D-D-Y!" she also did that last week when getting through the gate at my parents 'lake community'. for some reason they asked for my first name (wes & i call this 'threat level RED!' b/c not every gate worker asks the same questions. this lady was all over everything: where ya going? junior or senior? {my brother who has the same name as my dad also lives in this community, although he's technically *not* a junior}. yerr last name? yerrr first name? spell that? make of yer car? & as i drove away she wrote down the license plate...see threat level *red*. some workers smile through the window, nod, & open the gate = threat level green. it's quite a fun game, almost worth driving 70 minutes just to see what we'll get at the gate). anyway! addy yelled out the spelling of *her* first name for the lady who chuckled. but i think she wrote her name down also, just in case we were terrorists or maybe had a plan to overtake the playground!

so then we have amelia, a fiesty little bugger. tonight there was a solicitor at the door--even though we have a NO SOLICITOR sign up in very good view--he was doing the usual petition for something or other & it happened to be something i cared about...so i was a sucker & signed & then wrote a letter to the senator & house representative, etc. yes, i have *SUCKER* written across my forehead (but i didn't give money. maybe not so sucker after all?). while i was talking on the front porch with this dude, amelia weaseled her way out the door, onto the porch without me even knowing. they guy kept looking down & i finally looked down & there was amelia, trying to climb *off* the side of the porch. stupid hearing loss (she was on the 'bad side', my left, so i couldn't hear the sneaky little sneaks that make up amelia sneaking out of the house. by the time she's a teenager i need to get a hearing aid...for the times she's really sneaking out of the house, lol)... i put her back inside, closed the door & then 2 minutes later--DANG IT KIDDO!-- there she was again, sticking her tongue out to complete her very concentrated look of accomplishment. i think she cares about mountaintop removal mining as well.
what else about amelia? well, today she took an afternoon nap that lasted 2 1/2 hours! & when she woke up, i took her some water & cereal mix (fruit loops & honeycomb) for a snack (b/c adeline had crashed out on the couch, so we had to be uber quiet upstairs)...amelia was so happy to be awake that she walked around her room in a somewhat clap & dance routine. then she found her shoes & forced me--not kidding--to put her shoes on her & she didn't even attempt to take them off until bath time. so we have 2 little girls who love shoes. expensive.
AND. amelia & i went to this playgroup that we usually go to on wednesday mornings (unless i totally space it & think all morning "isn't there someplace i need to go right now?!" until i remember 3 days later, doi!). i walk in the door & the host's 17 (18??) month old is wearing the same outfit as amelia! crazy, eh?! it is the most adorable purple, long ruffled sleeve onesie with a sparkly-silver pear on it...they both even had black pants on! (get out!). i know, i know, target is wonderful, yes. but what are the odds of even the same color & style of pants?

i promise to stop rambling now. BUT wait! i have two doctor's appointments tomorrow mixed in with my day: 8:40 is addy to preschool. 9:30 is with dr im to check up on the adrenal insufficiency/addison's disease (hopefully not another round of blood work, but i think that's inevitable at this point). after that i head to the eye doctor (no appointment) to get my glasses refitted (refit? spelling help?) b/c amelia knocked them off-kilter last week (her head butts *hurt*, folks...plain & simple fiestyness). then a noon-ish lunch with my sister (who had a picture & quote on the front page--or 2nd page?-- of the columbus dispatch today! famous, i know). 1:30 i'll be with the dr welling of all dr wellings for a hearing test & a few choice words from me about post-surgery patient care. i'll let you know what my words to him will be tomorrow. after that, grocery shopping. after that, i will be *pooped*. thankfully, my mom will be here to wrestle the girls around all day. see, what would i do without my mom?
& i got my hairs cut yesterday. you gotta wait for the picture. SHORT. i told her to blend it in with the surgery buzzed area (no, it's not buzzed, just as long as my surgery buzzed area is, in the back.).

everything about this post is just wonderful and delicious.
That quilt is AWESOME!
I'm looking forward to hearing about your words with Dr. Welling. I was so disappointed in the surgery aftercare too.
At this exact moment 1 year ago I was at OSU hospital in the ICU, not even 24 hours post-op!
Paige - I have not met you but want to send you warm congrats on your past year of "tumor-free" living. I have seen first hand it is not an easy year - but you've done it! I am so thankful for the encouragement and help you have been to Heidi -- and actually all of us during this time.
And can I just say after a full day of corralling the little banshee-warrior--ahem--native-americans today (they got bumped up from Shawnee to Banshee today.....) this Gmum is p-o-o-p-e-d. It was great fun. Good luck finding Addy's pajamas. (I forgot to tell you I found Amelia pulling them out of the drawer like crazy after Addy had hurriedly replaced them....)
