today marks my first trip back to the rec center/gym. i was a good patient (this time) & mentioned to the dudes at the fitness desk my recent surgery & loss of a balance nerve (you know, in case you see me tilting sideways off the elliptical, please come get me & don't place my head between my legs--whatever you do). so then i get up on the elliptical & the dude walks over & is like 'we want you to fill out this medical form, etc etc' ... i felt like a sick geriatric lady at that point. but! i worked out (if you want to call my pace 'working out') for 15 minutes. stretched for 10 minutes on both sides of the work out. i feel a bit more energized which is the point of going, eh?
plus, my trip to the new d.o. went really well...so far. he handed me 3 prescriptions, ordered half of my blood to be taken out & tested (not really half but it felt that way) & i am to call tomorrow to discuss the blood work results. his hunch of what is going on with me? the general diagnosis of surgery induced fibromyalgia & more specifically thyroid problems. he said he will know more after the blood work. now, i've had my blood tested prior to the surgery for thyroid issues (as they run in my family) & it always came back without concern. but i've never felt like *this* before.
so i'm on a medication for arthritis (celebrex, i'm sure you've seen the commercials) & it doesn't have the stomach side effects as ibuprofen, plus i take only 2 pills a day compared to the 6 w/ ibuprofen. i've been on them for almost a day now & feel a bit better, less soreness in general & the soreness that is still there is around my incision & that's expected to be sore for quite awhile.
sometime this month i see a neurologist to figure out why my facial numbness is getting worse, not better & to discuss the cause of my migraines (the d.o. gave me some samples of another migraine pill to take until then). i have to say so far, i am pleased & impressed with the d.o. (his name is dr. im)...& he made no mention of acupuncture. PHEW!
AND today (or tomorrow?) is month 3 after that darn surgery. i will attempt another incision picture tonight with wes.

so, the girls. amelia is walking more & more & is also getting her 6th tooth in this week. she is mostly over her vomiting spell--but not before she gave it to her gram-mum (again, sorry mom!). she's also playing upstairs *alone* for the 1st time...of course, in addy's room. b/c when addy's home, she has her door shut & locked (in case amelia is super baby & can first suddenly reach the door knob & then figure out how to open the door. so it's locked in case we do in fact, have a super baby on our hands). AND in my weekly kid updates from some silly website (babycenter.com ??) they sent the update, but the title was: my toddler this week. my *TODDLER* ???!!! when did my baby switch to toddler? last week? WHAT?!
then adeline. she has a sinus infection-probably. & is on antibiotics not b/c of the green snot (as her teacher was so worried about) but b/c of her 3 week old cough. i swear the receptionist at our ped's office knows our girls' birth dates better than i do (as do the pharmacists at our neighborhood cvs). well, adeline also is ready for preschool, backpack packed, shoes on the wrong feet nearly 20 minutes before it's time to leave. she has this look on her face 'come on mom, let's GOOOO already'. & then she jabbers on about preschool & cutting (using scissors, her new found love in life). & she's refusing to eat mostly anything these days that doesn't have the word 'cookie' in the name. even if ketchup is offered.
so yesterday she refused to eat her lunch & then i told her after sending her to her room for her poor behavior (screaming & writhing on the floor b/c i asked her to eat a hunk of potato--abuse!) well, i then told her that amelia ate one of her chicken nuggets. she went from the top of the stairs to her chair at the dining room table in approximately 3 seconds. i have now discovered the new tool to get her to eat: amelia will eat it if you don't! & she doesn't want that, no no no.
folks keep mentioning to me that age 3 is a bit worse than age 2...so far, i've found that age 3 is *louder* than age 2, especially with tantrums, but adeline seems a bit more able to get over her fits faster. we haven't had an hour long tantrum in awhile (now that i've written this, just imagine what's going to happen today, eh?). it may have something to do with her being able to talk more & get her point across that way. who knows. but, eh, not so bad yet.
& tonight's menu item is: spinach ravioli (trader joe's, yumminy) w/ meatballs & marinara sauce. wish us luck. (last night's dinner of spinach & bacon frittata--big disappointment! boo on you martha)
